Rixa vom Oechtringer-Forst

Rixa “Rica” received a score of 69 in the VJP, and a score of 198 in the 2006 Armbruster (HZP-188 + Combined Breed Show score-10) for a 9th place finish).  She was awarded the rare score of 12 for her water work and received the award for “Best Water Dog” of the 2006 Armbruster International Competition.  She scored a 287 Prize I (TF) in the VGP which she completed while she was only 20 months old.

Rixa vom Oechtringer-Forst is the daughter of  Laura vom Oechtringer-Forst: 179262, 50914, Brsch, HD-Frei, ZR 275/99, SG/G, VJP 67 +73, HZP 185 VGP Pz 1 334, TF.

Rixa’s father is Brisko vom Erthal: 191103, Brsch, HD-Frei, ZR 091/03, SG/SG, HZP 194, Hegewald 230,  VGP 324 PZ 1, TF .  Brisko is one the stud dogs in highest demand in Germany today.  He took second place in the 2004 Hegewald and was chosen as the best looking male in the Hegewald Breed Show.  At the same time, his sister Biene was chosen as the best looking female. Rixa’s weight is approximately 58 pounds.  She is 62cm x 63cm in size and has received a breed show score of 11 in coat and 10 in conformation.  Rixa was born March 20, 2005.  She has a medium length coat with good undercoat and very stiff outer coat.  Her build is more slender and athletic.  She is HD-Free and has been found to be clear of vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.

Rixa has a natural love for the water and a strong desire to find game.  Her natural independence allows her to do very impressive water work, carrying her very far out from the handler to find elusive game. She was a very natural pointer as a young puppy and received 11’s in pointing both in the VJP and HZP.

As a young dog she was too often hunting in the next County.  She has settled down into a very comfortable range now.  Her discovery of me as her hunting partner now makes her very nice to hunt behind on foot.  She takes lines with a high degree of accuracy and is very easy to direct to downed game.

Rixa is an extremely lazy dog in the house with a preference towards curling up in her crate. When she’s in the house I often forget that I brought her in.  She is very calm in the blind and a joy to cuddle up in a hotel room on an out of town hunting trip. She has “the switch”, that many of us strive for; the switch that allows her to turn off inside, and turn it on in the field.  She spends much of her time  in the house, coming in before we leave for work, and again after we return from work.  She often goes to an outside kennel at bedtime and sleeps outside at night. Click  HERE to see more photos of Rixa.
