My name is Kevin Sherrodd. I have been a trainer and handler of Deutsch Drahthaars for approximately Eight years. I am a JGV Approved VR (Performance) Judge and breed show judge apprentice. I serve also as the Director of Testing for the Big Rivers Chapter of the VDD-GNA. My wife and I are transplants to South East Texas and live on the San Bernard River near Brazoria, Texas, approximately 45 minutes south of Houston. · We are hunters. · We breed a limited number of dogs for the benefit of those that hunt. · We train dogs (generally for our own use). · We are a training and testing resource for others. We only sell dogs to hunters. The Deutsch Drahthaar (DD) was developed for the purpose of hunting, and the breed exists today for only that reason. Here in Texas we use our dogs to hunt quail, ducks, geese, doves, rabbits, and other occasional furred game. In our previous home in Wyoming we used our dogs to hunt pheasants, grouse, rabbits and waterfowl. We are also big game hunters, regularly hunting deer, elk, moose, and antelope. Blood tracking is the practice of using dogs to trail and recover lost or wounded game (game that has been shot). The ability to blood track is a skill we train and breed for at Sendero Kennels. We have hunted with our Drahthaars in Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, and Mexico. Our dogs have hunted in swamps, deserts, row crops, on prairies, in rivers, and even in high elevation mountain forests. We breed dogs for use in all of these environments, and for use on all game animals. The Deutsch Drahthaar was developed in Germany to be a tool for the hunter; a useful assistant for the pursuit or recovery of any game the hunter may decide to take. At Sendero Kennels we feel the same way about our dogs. We develop train and breed dogs for use in hunting most any game in most any location. We hope you will choose do so as well. |
